We ran a Roundtable on Driving Net Zero Action in the Value Chain in Singapore in March 2023, in partnership with Tech Singapore Advocates and SGInnovate.
To set the scene for the roundtable discussion, we heard from keynote speakers Esther An, Chief Sustainability Officer of City Developments Limited and Darren Teoh, Vice President Group Sustainability of CapitaLand Investment who shared valuable insights on influencing net zero across the value chain, and tackling scope 3 emissions respectively.
We then deep dived into discussions around how technology commoditises the supply chain led by Jerry Lui, Assistant Director, Partnerships at SGInnovate; harnessing on technology to deliver on extraordinary impact across the value chain led by Leslie Sarma, Head, Tech Singapore Advocates; as well as achieving net zero faster through resilient partnerships across the value chain by Tanya Suarez, CEO of IoT Tribe and the Net Zero Tech Alliance.
Disclosures and transparency in supply chain are vital in combating scope 3 emissions. Tech, data and collaboration is key in this process. It is important to have your stakeholders aligned, and make it easy and secure for your suppliers, clients and partners to share their emission data with you. As supply chains become more complex and the race to Net Zero hastens, there is a clear need to establish collaborative mechanisms and technologies than can optimise our Net Zero efficiencies across the value chain.
Scope 3 emissions can account for 80% or more of a company’s total emissions, particularly in industries with complex supply chains. There is growing pressure from investors, customers and regulators for companies to address their emissions across the value chain, including Scope 3, in the move towards a more sustainable and low-carbon economy.
